InfoSphere Information Server V11.3 delivers new capabilities, including:
Better big data, faster:
- InfoSphere Information Server v11.3 now includes InfoSphere BigInsights to provide a fast, cost-effective and scalable Big Data Integration approach. IBM is the first vendor to deliver a market-leading data integration platform together with the analytics power of a fully supported Hadoop distribution, enabling clients to shift ETL and data integration workloads into a Hadoop infrastructure.
- Also in InfoSphere Information Server v11.3, the InfoSphere Data Click feature now enables non-technical users to quickly and easily load data into and move data out of Hadoop distributions and enables native high-speed loading of InfoSphere BigInsights.
- New support for Public Cloud environments
- As part of v11.3, InfoSphere Information Server now enables quick and easy data integration for Cloud environments. When running on premise, InfoSphere Information Server can provide direct integration with Amazon S3. After data is integrated within S3, it may be picked up by other cloud database technologies.
- InfoSphere Information Server v11.3 also provides a Hierarchical Stage, which supports interaction with REST APIs: This enables InfoSphere Information Server to support distributed Database as a Service (DBaaS) offerings such as IBM Cloudant, as well as other on premise and off premise solutions that offer REST-based interaction.
- Finally, InfoSphere Information Server is also now available for Public Cloud environments (via the IBM PureApplication Service on SoftLayer): As a result, clients are now able to deploy end-to-end public cloud-based data integration, quality and governance capabilities in a matter of minutes. (InfoSphere Information Server Enterprise Hypervisor Edition v9.1 is the offering that provides SoftLayer support.)
New capabilities for business-driven governance - for information governance rules and policies:
- InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog (renamed from InfoSphere Business Information Exchange) v11.3 provides a one-stop shop from which any user can search for and find information sources that are meaningful for delivering real business value. This benefit comes from the catalog's seamless user experience for the creation, monitoring, and publishing of business-critical metadata that adds context and relevance to information in your "data lake." Business and IT users can both collaborate and share insight about information sources, thereby speeding the time to value for any project that requires governed and trusted data - big data analytics, data warehousing, master data management, and many others.
- Comprehensive data source search is one of the new features in Information Governance Catalog v11.3. This capability enables users to search for any type of data source – tables, files, cloud structures, and more - or search based on business terms and policies and then drill into the related data sources. The flexibility of this method provides users the ability to find candidate data sources quickly and then explore the rich detail about those sources to confidently select the most relevant data for their business purpose.
New capabilities for sustainable data quality - for greater accuracy and adaptability:

Expanded Governance Dashboard:
- The InfoSphere Information Governance Dashboard and its companion SQLViews (a fully described query layer to key metadata) are now included as part of the integrated InfoSphere Information Server installer. Reports have been expanded to include analysis of critical business elements that lack a data steward owner. Additionally, IntoSphere Information Server now includes entitlement to IBM Cognos Business Intelligence components to support the organizational rollout of data governance programs to both IT and line of business users.
Matching Stewardship:
- "Clerical pairs" (records that are close matches, but require review) are now available in the Data Quality Console. Records are displayed in an intuitive format to facilitate investigation of the source data elements and related match scores.
Performance Optimization:
- New, faster algorithms for multi-column primary key detection, the ability to take full advantage of parallelism in column analysis, bulk-load write to the analysis database, and optimized client/server communication to reduce network traffic.
